The Washington Examiner just exposed the truth behind the Democrats’ recent withdrawal from their coronavirus restrictions. And, it has nothing to do with “the science.”

Instead, according to the outlet, it has everything to do with the fact that it is an election year and the fact that the left’s approach to the coronavirus isn’t popular anymore. 

Background

Recently, a number of Democrat governors across the country have decided to withdraw their coronavirus mask mandates, mandates that have been in place since the early days of the pandemic.

This included two of the states whose citizens have seen some of the harshest coronavirus restrictions in the country, namely, New York and California. But, it also included several others, such as New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut, and more.

In every case, the Democrats used the same explanation: coronavirus numbers are down and vaccination numbers are up, therefore, restrictions could be eased.

But, as the Examiner points out, there’s likely more going on here than initially appears.

The truth

Here’s how the Examiner sums it up:

The sudden shift among Democratic officeholders on the question of masks is, of course, welcome, but it is not based on any change in the science or the data of the pandemic. Democrats are just afraid of being thrown out of office as they deserve.

What drove the Democrats to suddenly back away from their coronavirus narrative, according to the Examiner, are “focus groups and polls.”

But, the Democrats, the outlet notes, will never admit that.

The Examiner explains:

Of course, it doesn’t look good to admit that your public health policy is based on focus groups, so some Democrats are desperately pretending this has something to do with the grand success of the Biden administration’s policy. This is, of course, delusional.

Right on the money

The Examiner is one of several outlets to recently publish articles like this one exposing what the Democrats are up to with regard to the coronavirus. Fox News, for example, published its own, making the same argument. In doing so, it highlighted the fact that those Democrats who are most vulnerable, such as Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI), were first to abandon the left’s coronavirus approach.

It’s nothing more than an attempt to trick people into voting for them in the upcoming election, and who’s to say they won’t bring back restrictions after the election?
