Hollywood actress Rosanna Arquette tweets and deletes message about ‘millions’ fleeing America if Roe v. Wade overturned

Remember in 2016, and again in 2020, when numerous liberal Hollywood celebrities vowed to leave America if Donald Trump was elected president, only to then ignore or walk back those promises and remain in the United States?

It appears that some liberals are again making promises to flee America, this time in response to a leaked draft copy of a Supreme Court opinion that appears to indicate the impending demise of the abortion-legalizing 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, Breitbart reported.

Chief among those abortion supporters making the likely empty vows in a fit of enraged pique is Hollywood actress Rosanna Arquette, who already seems to have reversed course by deleting a statement along those lines.

Threats to leave the country

It was Monday evening that Politico published a bombshell report based on a leaked first draft copy of a majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito in a case involving a Mississippi abortion law that largely banned the procedures after 15 weeks of pregnancy, and in upholding that law, the conservative jurist thoroughly tore down and shredded the pro-abortion precedent set by Roe and bolstered by Planned Parenthood v. Casey in 1992.

There was, unsurprisingly, immediate outrage and fury expressed by abortion supporters, and while most vowed to increase the intensity of their fight to protect the “right” to slaughter unborn babies in the womb, some, like Arquette, seemed to signal that they were searching for a national exit.

In a since-deleted tweet first posted Tuesday afternoon, screenshots indicate that Arquette wrote, “Millions of women are figuring out how to get out of this country for good.”

Perhaps after further consideration of the implications of her deleted message, the actress later tweeted another missive more in line with her liberal colleagues in the entertainment industry and called upon everyone, especially men, to “stand up” and fight back against the “barbaric tyranny” of protecting unborn babies from being murdered before they could take their first breath.

Won’t be headed to Western Europe in search of abortion rights

If, though, Arquette and others did seek to flee America for more abortion-friendly locales, it would appear that the supposedly enlightened and progressive Western Europe would not be the ideal destination for them, according to a 2016 video from conservative PragerU.

That video outlined how virtually all of the major Western European nations had stricter abortion laws than the United States, in most cases banning abortions after 12 weeks of pregnancy and imposing requirements like waiting periods and mandatory counseling or express government approval.

Furthermore, even if the leaked draft opinion holds true and Roe is overturned by the Supreme Court when a final opinion is officially released later this summer, abortions would not be immediately banned nationwide. Instead, the authority to regulate the procedures would simply be returned to the individual states, as had initially been the case.

Where are they now? Still here and complaining

As for all of those Hollywood celebrities that had promised to move elsewhere if former President Trump won the 2016 election, a list compiled shortly after the election showed how all of them had reneged on their vows and decided to remain home in America.

The same result will almost certainly be mirrored in this case, and given that many of the outraged celebrities live in decidedly abortion-friendly California, they have nothing to personally worry about — other than their conscience — if they want to dismember or poison to death their unborn children in the future.
