A long list of names emerges of potential 2024 running mates for Trump

Ever since former President Donald Trump announced his 2024 bid for the U.S. presidency, a seemingly ever-growing list of potential running mates has emerged. Here, we are going to take a look at some of the names on that list.

Right near the top of the list, one would suspect, is Kari Lake. Lake, at the moment, is battling for Arizona’s governorship. But, the Wall Street Journal reports that Lake, this past week, took time out of this battle in order to visit Trump.

This has led to speculation that Trump and Lake might have discussed a possible 2024 partnership. The idea does seem to be gaining popularity among many Republicans on social media. But, neither Lake nor Trump has mentioned it.

“They’re all begging me”

Another possible running mate for Trump, one that has been floated by multiple outlets, including the Daily Beast, is Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA).

This possibility seems a bit more unlikely because Greene is more of a controversial figure. She would definitely appeal to many of Trump’s supporters, particularly given her loyalty to Trump. But, because she has been cast as an extremist by the political left, she might turn off non-Republican and even some Republican voters.

Still another possibility that has been suggested is Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY). Stefanik clearly has continued to demonstrate her loyalty to Trump, endorsing his 2024 run. And, one of the upsides for Stefanik might be that she is viewed as less of a controversial figure than some of these other potential running mates.

Continuing down the list, other possible running mates for Trump in 2024 that have been mentioned include Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds (R), South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R), Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC), former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and more.

What about Trump/DeSantis?

There are some possible running mates for Trump that, by now, appear to clearly not be an option. An example would be former Vice President Mike Pence. Not only are Trump and Pence seemingly not seeing eye-to-eye on some things, but it even appears that Pence is trying to set himself up for a 2024 run.

On the other hand, there are other combinations that currently seem to be in a state of limbo, and this includes, perhaps, the most important combination of all, namely Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R).

Many have argued that this would be a blockbuster 2024 ticket for the Republicans. But, recently, the idea suffered a bit of a setback when Trump targeted DeSantis with some choice words. This made it seem as though Trump and DeSantis are more likely to be 2024 rivals than 2024 teammates. We’ll see.

But, one thing is clear is that there is no shortage of potential running mates for Trump.

As Trump has reportedly said, “They’re all begging me. They all come here.”
