Patriot News Alerts is committed to accuracy. When we discover a material error, we correct it promptly and transparently.

1) How to report an error

If you believe an article contains an error, please contact us using one of the methods below:

To help us review your request quickly, please include:

  • A link (URL) to the article
  • The specific statement you believe is incorrect (quote the sentence if possible)
  • What you believe the correct information is
  • Any supporting documentation or links to primary sources

2) What we review

We review reported issues that may involve:

  • Incorrect names, titles, organizations, or locations
  • Incorrect dates, timelines, or event descriptions
  • Incorrect numbers or other factual claims
  • Misattribution (wrongly attributing a quote or claim)
  • Material omissions that change the meaning of a factual statement

Not every dispute results in a correction. Differences in opinion or interpretation may not require a correction when the underlying facts are accurately presented.

3) How corrections are made

When a material error is confirmed, we may:

  • Update the article to correct the error
  • Preserve the original article URL whenever possible
  • Add a Correction note describing what was corrected and when

Corrections are reviewed and approved by an editor before being published.

4) How updates are labeled

Some stories change as new verified information becomes available. When we revise an article, we label changes using one of the following:

  • Correction: Used when we correct a material factual error (for example, a wrong name, date, number, or attribution).
  • Update: Used when we add new, verified information that was not available at the time of publication.
  • Clarification: Used when we revise wording to prevent misunderstanding while keeping the underlying facts the same.

When a correction, update, or clarification is made, we add a note (typically at the end of the article) indicating the change and the date/time of the note.

5) Article dates and revision notes

Articles display a published date. If we make a correction, update, or clarification, we add a corresponding note as described above so readers can understand what changed.

6) Content changes and removals

In some situations, we may correct, update, substantially revise, or remove content (for example, when new information materially changes the story, or when warranted for safety, privacy, or legal reasons). When appropriate, we may provide a notice indicating that content has been changed or removed.

7) Our commitment to transparency

We take correction requests seriously and aim to address them as promptly as practical. Our goal is to maintain reader trust by making necessary corrections clearly and without delay.
