On Tuesday, the Senate voted 64 to 34 to advance an 80-page gun safety bill that promises to further restrict Americans’ 2nd Amendment rights.

The bill was crafted in response to the mass shootings in Buffalo, New York, and Uvalde, Texas. The thinly-disguised gun-control measure was enabled by 14 Republican Senators who voted with Democrats to chip away at the 2nd Amendment. 

Leading the charge were Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

14 Republicans betray voters

It was no surprise that the Democrat Party would exploit the tragic shootings in Buffalo and Uvalde to push their anti-2nd Amendment agenda.

However, to see 14 Republican Senators, including Senator Cornyn, join Democrats in stripping us of our rights was completely unprecedented.

Voters should be absolutely furious to see Senators like Cornyn and McConnell joining Democrats to strip us of our freedoms.

The full list of Senators who joined the Democrat Party is a good reminder that the 50-50 split in the Senate is an illusion. There are a handful of Republicans who are more than eager to sell out their voters.

Senator Lindsay Graham (R-SC) was another Senator that wasn’t a surprise to see voting to approve this bill.

Senator Graham has repeatedly shown that he isn’t worth trusting and it is long past time that he and the other Republicans who voted for this bill were voted out of office.

Time to clean house

The Republican Party has a lot of work to do to purge the fake Republicans that have sold us out for decades.

The so-called gun safety bill will be debated in the Senate before a final vote is held, and if it passes, it will continue on to the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives.

Voters still have time to make their voices heard and to put pressure on the 14 Republicans who are degrading our freedoms. In the case that they don’t reverse course, voters would do well to work to remove them from power and send a strong message.
